What is this addiction to the color BLUE?

I've never cared for the color blue!  I didn't use much of the color in my paintings or my house.  I would never choose a blue car either! Since moving that has all changed (except for a blue car).

I've been thinking about this change, and there might be a reason or influence.  As many of you know I had the privilege of living on the lake for seven months.  Have you ever noticed the sky when looking at the lake?  It's big and blue and never ending.  The sky influences the color of everything below it.  It's really quite amazing!  Subconsciously, I think this color made it's way into my brain.

A while back I did a painting (24" x24") I titled "Sunday Afternoon".  I still have it and it hangs in my house!  I'm just loving the tones and hues of BLUE happening in this painting. (It is for sale!)

Here are two more photos I just can't resist sharing!  Great examples of BLUE!
The BLUE water in this one is definitely a reflection from the color of the sky!

And this one, for sure a favorite of mine! A beautiful warm, calm and BLUE sky day

I will also be adding some BLUE to my concrete art this summer.  I've figured out a way to make this lovely color permanent and able to withstand the elements of the weather.  This color will be especially beautiful on my fountains.  Check back often on this blog as I will be posting my new concrete designs.

  1. Beautiful blue painting, Amy! My hubby recently changed some upright lamps in our basement from regular white light bulbs to blue as an experiment in changing up his work-space- he loves them! I also noticed my wardrobe becoming increasingly blue/teal... Blue! It's self replicating.
